If an access is desired for several employees of a company, the includement of the WTI databases in the company intranet itself would be the best way. ( See: How can we include WTI databases in our company intranet?)

At many universities, the libraries offer campus access to WTI databases for students and academic staff and university members.

Prices depend on the selected subject packages and time frames. Please check our Shop for our recent prices.

The output of the title list and evidence during a search is free of charge in the subscribed subject packages.

If you are studying or working at a university, please check whether your library allows access to our databases for you free of charge.

Has been set up an Intranet/Portal for your company, so please check with the administrator for Intranet administration according to your access authorization.

If you need an access authorization for several people of a facility and have an intranet, we offer you to provide the databases you want for the participant circle you have in your intranet. Please contact us so that we can create an offer tailored to your needs.

A listing of our theme packages can be found under Products in the navigation bar.

After successful registration, or after each login, a selection page appears with all available theme packages. Clicking on the blue "i" behind the database name leads to the detailed content description. Clicking on the database name leads directly into the Easy Search in the TecFinder.

TecFinder

In the case of the knowledge databases, the evidence includes a meaningful summary of the original publication - the so-called abstract - , as well as keywords to describe the content and, of course, the source information.

In detail these are: title, descriptors, free terms, abstract, author, institution, conference details, source, publication codes, subject areas, language, document number, document form, year of publication, country of institution, conference serial number, country of conference as well as WTI magazine code.

After document output, i.e. the issue of a certificate of literature, usually consists of the possibility to determine via the button “full text – Availability“ providers for the original publication. These deliver at their respective terms. A contract is concluded with the desired provider.

In case of customer-specific accesses (e.g. B. Company or university intranets) can include individual full-text ordering options and links.

In many literature proofs, there is a link in the field of “full text“ that leads to the publishing server via which the original text can be purchased electronically.

Many questions about search options are already answered in the "Tutorials" as well as in the descriptions of the individual theme packages. A detailed guide to the search can be found in the TecFinder manual.

Special questions about research can be sent to us.

After a search in TecFinder, you have the option of depositing your search question as a "Alert“ so that you regularly get the respective newly added database proofs sent by e-mail. The sending takes place automatically after each database update (Update).

A Thesaurus is a structured specialist word directory that serves to describe and re-find literature evidence and represents an important tool for improving search in the associated databases. Databases with an integrated Thesaurus therefore offer the Thesaurus search.

With the Thesaurus a pre-selection of search terms can be made for a more efficient search. It offers advanced search options in a database, such as right/left-trunking ( = word-fragment search ). A detailed guide for the use of the Thesaurus can be found in the help text at the respective Thesaurus (blue info button behind the name of the “Active Thesaurus“).

Thesauri are available for the databases TEMA Technik und Management including the specialist databases.

The list of entered and linked search steps (search strategy) can be saved in TecFinder as search strategy. If necessary, this search strategy can be reloaded under My TecFinder and My Search Strategies. A search will only take place after clicking on the appropriate search step or entering another search term with subsequent linking for a further search. A changed search strategy can be saved again under a new name. The old search strategy is preserved.

For the duration of an online access, the proofs from various information searches can be placed in a watch list. However, this list is only temporary and is deleted with the logout from TecFinder.

It is therefore recommended to change to the watch list for the end of the information search and to download and save the evidence in the appropriate data format.

The list of linked search steps (search strategy) can be saved in TecFinder as search strategy and a permanent search job (Alert) can be set up.

With each update of a database, the information seeker receives the results of the search run by mail. If necessary, this permanent search strategy can be reloaded under My TecFinder and My Alerts. A renewed search of the saved and reloaded search strategy takes place only after a click on one of the search steps or a renewed search and subsequent linkage. A changed search strategy can be saved again under a new name as a permanent search order (Alert).

Technical Questions

Literature proofs can be stored in the TecFinder, - according to the document display - with the function "Save as RIS", for import into literature management programs that support the RIS format (e. g. Citavi, Endnote etc.).

You will find the option under "Save", where you can choose - beside the formats HTML, RTF and Text - RIS as output format.

The format RIS only makes sense in the case of fully displayed literature proofs. If you output the watch list in RIS format, you will only get the full details for displayed literature proofs.

In the case of unopened titles, the RIS issue contains the note: "Note: The information is incomplete, since proof of literature has not been opened or comes from a database for which export in RIS format is currently not available."

In the title list the RIS format is not offered, as the literature information there is always incomplete.

Please set the character encoding UTF-8 when importing into the literature administration.

Title list and literature proofs can also be stored in CSV format for further processing. For this, use the character set UTF-8, as a separator the comma and as a text separator the quote. For the watchlist the CSV format can unfortunately not be offered, due to the different structure of the evidence from different databases.
